A Message from Chief Rikard

slide0001_image001Welcome to the Bartlett Police Department’s webpage. My name is Gary Rikard and I am the Chief of Police. I began my career with this department in March of 1988.

Now it is my privilege to serve this community in the capacity as Chief of  Police. For the past thirty years, I have lived  and worked here and it is with pride that I call Bartlett home.

Departmental growth has been constant over the past few years with the number of commissioned officers now at 126 and we are growing! We have maintained high standards in testing and promotions and this fact has assisted us in keeping a good reputation as an  excellent provider of police services. Our department is accredited through the Tennessee
Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.

Homeland Security seems to be the buzz word in law enforcement and our efforts are directed toward our  neighborhood watch programs and directed patrol to maintain a check of the heartbeat of our region.

The success of this department comes from the employees and the citizens that we serve. We are still dedicated to the concept of community policing that includes taking  reports on matters that may otherwise be deemed minor, but to the victims are serious and by doing this we can stay connected to our citizens.

In regards to the Bartlett Police Department, much has been said of the large amount of traffic enforcement here in the city. We feel that you and your family should feel safe driving on our streets and working and playing around your home, without the fear of speeding and reckless drivers. So when you see one of our cars with a violator pulled over, remember we are enforcing the laws to protect you and your family. If a situation does arise where you feel you were not treated fairly or less then professionally, you may call my office and  speak with one of the administrative staff. But in the same light, please feel free to contact us if you have a  compliment on our department.

Please tour our entire site by going into the different divisions of our police department. If you have any  comments or questions, please feel free to contact me by email.
