Cop's Corner with Captain Cupp

Captain David G. Cupp
Captain Cupp is the Traffic Commander for the Bartlett Police Department. Each week Captain Cupp will provide the citizens of Bartlett with information that will be useful concerning Traffic Laws as well as Public Safety issues and little know facts about the Bartlett Police Department. Everyone is urged to contact Captain Cupp about your Traffic Concerns and questions.

This week's topic:
Speed Limits

It has often been said to our Police Officers and inside the Court Room that “I didn’t know what the speed limit was”. The reply to this from our Officers and the Judge is that this is no excuse to speeding. Every City Street in Bartlett is 30 MPH unless you see a speed limit sign stating otherwise. Keep this in mind if you see no speed limit sign especially in the sub-divisions. The speed limit in shopping centers is 15 MPH. You will not get a speeding citation in the shopping centers but you can get a Reckless Driving Charge if the Officer observes this or it can be proven by other means.

Be Careful
