Cop's Corner with Captain Cupp

Captain David G. Cupp

Captain Cupp is the daytime shift commander for the Bartlett Police Department. Each week Captain Cupp will provide citizens of Bartlett with information useful to Bartlett residents concerning traffic and public safety and little known facts about the Bartlett Police Department.

This week's topic:
Independence Day
The City of Bartlett will be celebrating Independence Day on Friday July 3, 2009. The location again will be on Appling Road in front of the Bartlett Performing Arts Center. The road will be closed to traffic starting at 4:00pm with the event scheduled to begin at 6:30pm. This has grown to be the second largest event for the city second only to the Christmas Parade. Literally this is a combined effort of ALL City Services to make this a safe and memorable event that is geared to the family. Please be responsible as adults and refrain from drinking alcohol while at this event.

One of my major concerns is safety especially at the end of the Fireworks Show when we have a mixture of walking traffic and vehicular traffic trying to leave all at the same time. We have worked very hard to see that the elements come together without injury or accidents. We are asking for you to be patient and give us a few minutes to get things cleared out. So come, bring your family and have fun on our Country’s Celebration.

Be Safe……..
