Cop's Corner with Captain Cupp

Captain David G. Cupp

Captain Cupp is the Traffic Division Commander for the Bartlett Police Department.

Each week Captain Cupp will provide citizens of Bartlett with information useful to Bartlett residents concerning traffic and public safety and little known facts about the Bartlett Police Department.

The Topic this week is: ANTIQUE VEHICLES

I have noticed an increase in Antique Vehicles being on the roadways as of lately. These vehicles over 25 years old are entitled to display an Antique License Plate but rules do apply. I think the main rule that gets broken is the fact that these vehicles are not to be driven on the roadways except Saturday and Sunday as a form of transportation. If an antique vehicle is on the roadway during the week it needs to either be going or returning from a car show or a repair shop. If you are caught violating these rules you’re Antique License Plates can be seized and you will be required to purchase a regular vehicle registration.

This should clear up any vague understanding of the law regarding Antique Vehicles.

Be safe and as always if you have questions or concerns contact me at my email address or call me at 901-385-5529 x324.
