Cop's Corner with Captain Cupp

Captain David G. Cupp

Captain Cupp is the Traffic Division Commander for the Bartlett Police Department.

Each week Captain Cupp will provide citizens of Bartlett with information useful to Bartlett residents concerning traffic and public safety and little known facts about the Bartlett Police Department.

The Topic this week is: Child Passenger Seats

Everyone should know by now that every child under the age of 9 must be in “Child Passenger Seat”. When you buy a seat for your child make sure it is a new seat and not some hand me down. When you buy a new seat make sure the expiration date is still good. Yep just like food they can go bad just sitting on the shelf. Why is that you ask? The plastics and material the seats are made of actually break down over time so make sure you get a fresh one.

The Bartlett Police Department has in its Traffic Division Certified Technicians that will make sure your car seat has not been recalled and installed properly. 3 out of 4 people will install their child seat wrong and put their child in danger. We have, at the Police Department, a supply of Child Passenger Seats that are available for those that are on government assistance and can not afford a seat by themselves. You must call ahead and bring your Government ID Card to obtain a car seat.
