The Bartlett Historical Society meeting with guest speaker author John Babb
Monday, August 10, 2020
The Bartlett Historical Society will meet on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 7pm. Our speaker will be author John Babb who will speak about his book, Voices of the Dead. The book takes you to the yellow fever epidemic of 1878. You are with the overworked doctors, nurses, clergy, funeral directors, grave diggers and the people simply trying to survive. What soon became clear was that black citizens had an inherited immunity from prior generations of exposure to the fever. John Babb is a retired Assistant Surgeon General, and Rear Admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service.
Everyone is welcome. Admission is free with donations accepted. The meeting will be held in the Bartlett Municipal Center located at 5868 Stage Rd, Bartlett, TN 38134. Reservations are required in order to practice social distancing. Please call (901) 483-0093 to make your reservation. Face masks are required to be worn.
