Bobby
Simmons, serving his fifth term, has been a Bartlett resident for 25 years.
Active in the community, Bobby has served as the president of the Bartlett
Exchange Club, former president of the Daybreak Homeowners Association, and
Chairman of the Board for the Shelby County Credit Union. As a trustee for the
Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Bobby has enhanced the lives of children
through the annual Christmas charity of COPS and KIDS with holiday shopping at
the Bartlett Walmart. He enjoys hours spent with Dream Factory’s charity for
special needs children where the Freeman Park event “BUZZ the RED, WHITE, and
BLUE” brings the Bartlett police, fire fighters, and elected leaders together
to participate in the local event. Bobby’s expertise as an officer with the
Shelby County Sheriff’s Department qualifies his service as a member of the
Public Safety Committee for the National League of Cities. In 2010, Bobby was
inducted into the Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for his thirty years of service
to the Memphis Park Commission as a football official. He currently serves as
the president of the Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. Alderman Simmons
realizes the importance of sports in the lives of children and adults and is
often seen at the BHS football, basketball, and baseball games. Many Bartlett
residents remember Bobby as their coach or their children’s referee in SYS
sports. Bobby and his wife Sherry attend Faith Baptist Church Bobby. The Simmons believe the people in Bartlett and the services offered by the City of Bartlett
are unsurpassed anywhere in the country. Parks, public works, police and fire
protection, doctors and hospitals, animal protection, performing arts,
community centers, schools, senior citizen centers, churches, dining, shopping,
and our library are reasons for everyone to choose Bartlett as THE place to
live and raise a family. This close and loving community brings great joy to
Alderman Simmons as he lives each day in the joy of serving others. Thankful to
have the citizens’ input and concerns, Bobby will continue to focus his
attention on our safety and protection.
