1. What should I do with my leaves?

You have 4 options:
1- Mulch your leaves with a lawnmower. Decayed leaves provide excellent fertilization for your yard and plant beds.
2- Rake them to the curb, not in the street, during "LOOSE LEAF COLLECTION SEASON", November 1 through March 31. Please be advised that delays for this service are not uncommon due to large volumes of leaves placed at the curb for collection.
3- Bag and place them at the curb (not in the street) for weekly collection on your regular garbage collection day.
4- Place them unbagged in your yard waste cart for collection on your regular garbage collection day.

3. How do I dispose of my old Appliance?

A $25 fee will be charged for the pickup of all major appliances. The owner must visit City Hall or Public Works to purchase a 'sticker' for pickup. More...

Location: 6305 Haley Road, next to Penal Farm/Shelby Co. Corrections Ctr.

Hours of Operation: 8:30am – 1:00pm
Tuesdays and Saturdays
Cost: No charge

Open to Shelby County Residents ONLY! Proof of residency may be required.

Items Accepted:
• Aerosol spray cans
• Automotive fluids
• Batteries
• Construction & Home repair products
• Electronics (no televisions)
• Flammable liquids
• Pool Chemicals
• Other (moth balls, insect repellant, mercury, and thermostats)

Limits: 15 gallons or 100 pounds per vehicle per month.

Items Not Accepted:
• Commercial waste
• Explosives
• Medical waste
• Non-propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, oxygen bottles, and wielding tanks
• Radioactive waste
• Refrigerants
• Cooking oil and grease
• Microwave ovens
• Copiers
• Tires
• Unidentifiable items

5. How do I dispose of paint, batteries, tires, and oil?

Paint - mix it 50/50 with sand or dirt and place in cart.

Batteries - Auto Zone will accept them or you may deliver them to our Solid Waste Complex - 5250 Shelter Run Lane.

Tires - Bartlett residents can place up to 4 tires on the curb for collection on normal trash pickup day.

Oil - Auto Zone and possibly other area auto parts and lubrications centers accept used motor oil.
